Do
You Remember.....?
Of yellow
rape seed with such abandon?
You’d
bump the scarecrow then you’d beg his pardon,
Marveling
at such abundance revealed
When you
inhaled the sweet odour of spring.
Such
golden glory, oh Demeter she’d
Be proud.
Mayflies and butterflies would sing
For me.
My mother’s call I'd never heed
It when
it came from the kitchen window.
The
Japanese they call it nanohana,
I’d
pick a bunch to give it to my Nanna
But, the
sun would wane and then i’d have to go.
Such
carefree days of youth were full of joy
Reminding
me of when I was a boy.
